Psychodrama Training Group

With Sylvia Israel & John Olesen  

 

Bay Area Moreno Institute (BAMI) is accepting applications for the 2014-15 Psychodrama Core Training Group (CTG).  CTG is a training program for people seeking to expand their knowledge of the theory and practice of Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy.  

 

CTG is a supportive, stimulating community of learners; a laboratory in which to develop spontaneity as a director, auxiliary, protagonist and group member. Training will include topics such as working with individuals, spontaneity, directing skills, integrating psychodrama with neuroscience and psychodrama theory, philosophy and history. Students will have input into specific areas of study and will have numerous opportunities for directing.    

 

Group and Individual Case Supervision will be provided at each session using psychodramatic and other action methods. If you are interested in additional supervision/consultation, please let us know. 

 

Training is open to professionals and students in the fields of mental health, law, substance abuse and recovery, creative arts therapies, religion, human services, personnel management, group facilitation and education. 

 

20 training hours per weekend may be applied toward certification by the American Board of Examiners.  CEU's for MFT and LCSW are also available.

Hours: Friday     12 - 8 PM

Saturday 10 AM - 6 PM
Sunday    9 AM - 4 PM

Fee: $475 per weekend. 

Students:  $400 per weekend . 

Full refund up to 14 days prior first meeting. 

No refund thereafter. Some partial scholarships available.

Continuing Education: Sylvia Israel, approved provider for CEUs for MFT, LCSW (BBS947) (Additional $20 fee). Hours may also be applied for Drama Therapy (Northern American Association of Drama Therapy) Psychodrama (American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy) and MFT licensure (Approved by the Board of Behavioral Sciences).

 

Faculty

 

Sylvia Israel, LMFT (mfc31245), Nationally certified Psychodramatist/Trainer, (TEP) Registered Drama Therapist/Trainer (RDT/BCT), Co-Founder of Bay Area Moreno Institute, and Bay Area Playback Theatre, teaches at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) and maintains a private practice with individuals, couples and families in San Francisco and Marin.

 

John Olesen, MA, TEP,  A Psychodrama Trainer, John is dedicated to healing through experiential learning. He a founding member of the Bay Area Moreno Institute and a long-term member of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama. John teaches at the Interpersonal Neurobiology, Somatics and Action Methods Certificate Program at Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has been involved with helping people since the AIDS epidemic the mid-1980's. He has worked in hospice, HIV prevention and health promotion and has been a facilitator for Positive Being for the last 6 years. For 12 years John was the Clinical Supervisor of the LIFE Program at Shanti in San Francisco. The Shanti Model of Support, which is both a philosophy and set of techniques, is a way of being with another person that frees both parties to be fully who they are and communicate their feelings to one another. Ultimately, this co-creative work leads to increased self-awareness, relief from suffering, and engagement in more meaningful relationships with others.
