Building on the Sunday afternoon session on February 16, or valuable as a stand-alone experience, this workshop will explore the healing power of psychodrama in working with survivors of trauma. Incorporating many elements of the Therapeutic Spiral Model ™ it will also serve as a good warm-up to the Trauma Triangle Workshop being offered March 28 - 30.
Current research in the neurobiology of trauma supports the hypothesis that although some forms of therapy can help manage trauma symptoms, the right/left brain integration provided by psychodrama and other expressive modalities can actually support the healing of trauma, by helping to re-file trauma memories as events of the past, rather than having them exist in a "perpetual present" waiting to be triggered during PTSD episodes.
This training will be especially helpful for those who work with survivors of trauma as well as those effected by "secondary traumatization."
Pre-registration is required.
