JOIN US FOR THIS UNIQUE PERSONAL STORIES WORKSHOP!
Through writing, drama, movement, art and play, each participant will create and perform an original theater piece based on their life experience. Emphasis will be placed on choosing a story that will take you to a growing edge while cultivating deep courage and self-compassion. Attention will be given to both the aesthetic and therapeutic aspects of storytelling. The workshop will culminate in a performance for an invited audience.
If you are a professional, this workshop will also assist you in helping clients find stories of empowerment in their own lives.
When: Saturdays, 10/11, 10/25, 11/22; 10 am – 6 pm
Performance: 11/23 6:30-9 pm; Closure: 12/5 6:30 - 9 pm
Sylvia Israel, LMFT (mfc31245), Nationally certified Psychodramatist/Trainer, (TEP) Registered Drama Therapist/Trainer (RDT/BCT), Co-Founder of Bay Area Moreno Institute, and Bay Area Playback Theatre, teaches at the CA Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) and maintains a private practice with individuals, couples, and families in San Francisco and Marin. Sylvia’s passion is finding the doorway to awaken spontaneity, which allows us to be fully present and live with creativity.
Suraya Keating, LMFT (mfc43996) is a Registered Drama Therapist, Expressive Arts Therapist, Adjunct Professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies, and Shakespeare for Social Justice Director with Marin Shakespeare Company. Suraya has extensive experience facilitating body-based expressive arts and drama therapy groups with youth, adults and prison inmates, and is the founder of the Play-Formance Method, a unique strength-based performance process that awakens our highest potential in the creation of works of theater.
Continuing Education: Sylvia Israel, provider, approved CEU provider for MFT, LCSW- Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS947). (Additional $10 fee).. Hours may also be applied for Drama Therapy, Psychodrama and MFT licensure.
