When we say containment, we invite you to visualize the safe and beautiful spaces you’ve surrounded yourself and your treasures with—lovely boxes, vases, gardens, etc.  While these are containers, they are not restrictors, and they offer safety along with room to move or grow. In life, we also create neurobiological compartments in our brains to hold trauma when bad things happen.  These containers are not beautiful or safe, but are filled with dissociation, flashbacks, body memories, intense and unpredictable feelings or numbness, and often self-destructive actions. 

This comprehensive and experiential workshop teaches the basic TSM Six Safety Structures of the Therapeutic Spiral Model that can be adapted to help with residual trauma.  Participants will learn to balance thinking and feeling so that old, unprocessed memories can be held safely in the present and re-examined to find new solutions for old situations.  Participants will learn the TSM Clinical Action Intervention of the Containing Double, which is the most used TSM intervention worldwide (Hudgins & Toscani 2013).

Dates: Fri 9/26, 1 pm- 6 pm, Sat 9/27 10am-6pm & Sun 9/28 10am- 4pm.  Place: Marin County, near SF. 

Fee: $500 by 8/15. $550 after 8/15. 10% discount CIIS students

Sylvia Israel, LMFT, TEP, RDT/BCT is an International Trainer in Psychodrama, Registered Drama Therapist & Board Certified Trainer, co-founder of Bay Area Moreno Institute, IMAGINE! Center for Creativity & Healing, and Bay Area Playback Theatre.  She teaches at California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). She began training in the Therapeutic Spiral Model in 1995 and has taught about PTSD and Action Methods at various graduate programs. Sylvia maintains a private practice in Marin and SF.
